About the Department     
The Department of Economics was established in 1966 with Telugu as a medium of instruction with BA(EPP) group in the college. Now different combinations of groups are available with Economics like EPP, EHP,EHPA,EHCA, EHJ, EPJ and EMS.Economics is a social science which deals with production, consumption, distribution and exchange of various goods and services. Economics studies the behaviour of individuals and organisations in society. Hence, Economics is regarded as the’’Queen of all social sciences”.

The Department offers SEC and GE courses like Rural Development, Entrepreneurship and Development, Telangana Economy, Economics of Environment and Financial Economics.

VISION:

The vision of the Departmentconsists of exploring the economic study and analysis, policy framing and implementation issues faced by the Indian and global economy and to provide valuable Knowledge for making decisions in everyday life. Studying economics enables the students to understand past, future and current models, and apply them to societies, governments, businesses, individuals and also explains how they allocate their scarce resources.

MISSION:

The mission of the Department of Economics is to support_
1. To avail global knowledge of higher education in Economics to rural masses and local community.
2. To providing quality instruction to students to prepare them for successful careers.
3. To prepare students for acquiring applied knowledge of economics to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship.
4. To train the students theoretically, practically to solve the problems related to the development of the Economy.
5.To make our students to understand microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts, and their applications
6.To enable the students to accept the challenges of the world economy.


Objectives  

    • To understands the basics of Economics.
    • To understands and learns the basic terminology of micro and macro economics, how market operates, the level of economic activity in an economy.
    • To demonstrates knowledge of Terms and concepts, empirical tools, problem solving skills and strong understanding of policies related to Economics.
    • To demonstrates an understanding of basic functioning of Indian Economy.
    • To identifies and analyse Quantitative Economic Data by expressing relationships between concepts through Graphs, statistical and econometric analysis.
    • To describe the institutions in India that shape policies to achieve their goals in addressing issues of unemployment, Inflation, Exchange rates, Balance of payments, Economic growth etc in present Global context.
