About Department

The eminent scholar Acharya Khandavalli Lakshmi Ranjanam established this college as Telugu Kalasala(Evening) in the year 1966. It was the only college in Hyderabad to offer instruction through Telugu Medium in Hyderabad in those days and many of the students opted Telugu as their second language. At present there are nearly 800 students in second language Telugu.
In the Academic Year 2020-21 a new course BA(Languages) has been started with Telugu Language as main subject, and 48 students were admitted in the course.

Student Book Reviews

Objectives of the Practice :

1. To develop communication skills
2.To develop  reading habbit.
3.  To improve analytical skill
4. To improve   knowledge in literature

Context :  Department of Telugu has started student book review as an innovative practice in the academic year 18-19 and it is continuing till now.

Every year students are taken to ‘National Hyderabad book fair’ as sort of field trip and the books mainly of   their choice has been purchased by the faculty  for departmental library. Students are encouraged to read and introduce these books to the fellow students. Sometimes it is in the form of student seminar and sometimes in the form of an essay.

Practice : Department is encouraging students to write for wall magazine in the beginning. This helps students to improve their writing skill.
In the year 2021-22  september on the occasion  of Telangana basha dinosthavam selected book reviews of students were compiled  as E book and inaguarated by the chief guest  of the day and it is also uploaded in the college website

Challenges :

Due to increased use of Cell Phones and electronic media book reading decreased among students.
Students are preferring to read summary   of the books by which the real beauty of creative writings are not understand by students.
Inculcating reading habbit at this stage is a big challenge.
Success : This practice helped students like M. Abhilash of present III year Bsc  who is writing articles in Telugu WIKIPEDIA and received awards from Wikipedia and Yamini from Bzc received 1st prize in intercollegiate competitions at state level .

BEST PRACTICE–WALL MAGAZINE

Objectives of the Practice :

1.To give a platform to students to express  their views.
2. To improve communication skills
3. To inculcate leadership qualities

Context :: Department of Telugu Started Wall Magazine in the year 2019 as a monthly magazine  to encourage students writing skills . Students created whats up group of magazine and bringing the magazine by taking  the suggestions from Telugu faculty. Due to covid it has stopped but again started in this academic year.

Practice :Students of  Magazine committee collect Poems, essays , drawings written by  students monthly ones and display them in Wall magazine.  Selected works from this will be published in College magazine.

Challenges :1. Many students are interested in writing but they need lot of tuning.

Success :1.By writing for wall magazinestudents are becoming capable to write for print   magazine.
